Lokananta at 70: Indonesia's Living Music Heritage

Surakarta (the official administrative name for "Solo," its popular heritage name) was designated as part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) for Crafts and Folk Arts since October 2023, in recognition of its rich cultural heritage.

Solo is also home to Indonesia's first state-owned music archive and recording institution: Lokananta. On its 70th birthday in 2026, Lokananta represents:
