IASPM-SEA: Advancing Popular Music Studies in Southeast Asia

The International Association for the Study of Popular Music – Southeast Asia (IASPM-SEA) is part of the global IASPM network, established in 1981 with 16 international branches across Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Oceania.

IASPM-SEA connects Southeast Asian universities, researchers, cultural institutions, and practitioners through conferences, publications, and regional academic collaborations on music, identity, society, and cultural transformation.

As PSN Indonesia's Knowledge Partner for the 2026 conference, IASPM-SEA brings academic rigor, regional networks, publication pathways, and institutional legitimacy.

PSN Indonesia itself is one of Punk Scholars Network Global (PSN Global) regional groups, connected to other 21+ chapters across Asia-Pacific, Europe, and Latin America through interdisciplinary punk and subcultural studies.
